Recording Payments

Once you have made a payment to your debt(s), you can then use Pay Off Debt to record the payments. There are three ways to do so: Recording a minimum payment, recording a custom payment, or recording all minimum payments at once. Once you have recorded a payment or payments, the current balances will be automatically estimated within the app. (However, please note that this is ONLY an estimate.)

Recording a Minimum Payment

If you want to record your minimum payment for an individual debt, you can use the + Minimum button.

Tapping the + Minimum button for the first debt in your list will record both the minimum payment entered for that debt and the Additional Amount in Configure Snowball.

Tapping + Minimum for any other debt in the list will record only that debt’s minimum payment amount.

To use the + Minimum option:

  1. Scroll to the individual debt you want to record a minimum payment for.

  2. Tap the + Minimum button to record your payment for that debt.

    A message box will appear.

  3. Tap Apply.

The payment will be recorded, and you can view it by tapping the History button.

Recording a Custom Payment

If you want to record a custom payment for an individual debt — such as if you are making more than one payment to it during the same month, or if you’re making a larger than normal monthly payment — you can use the Custom button.

To use the Custom option:

  1. Scroll to the individual debt you want to record a custom payment for.

  2. Tap the Custom button for that debt.

You will be taken to a new screen.

  3. Tap the Amount field.

    The keyboard will appear.

  4. Enter the amount of the custom payment.

  5. If you want to record 100% of the custom payment to principal only:

    • Tap the Apply custom payment to principal only option.

        The Yes/No options will appear.

    • Tap Yes

You will be returned to the previous screen

  6. If you want to record the payment so that it is recorded normally (with amounts going to both principal and interest), continue to the next step.

  7. If you want the payment to be recorded for a date other than the current date, tap the Choose date option and then select the desired date from the calendar that appears.

You will be returned to the previous screen.

  8. Tap Apply.

A message box will appear stating the amount of the payment that was recorded.

  9. Tap Done.

The payment will be recorded, and you can view it by tapping the History button.

Recording All Payments

If you want to record all of your payments at once, you can use the ++ icon (which looks like this: ++).

Recording all payments will also automatically record the amount in Configure Snowball against the first debt in your list.

To record all payments at once:

  1. Tap the ++ icon.

    A message box will appear.

  2. Tap Apply.

  3. Tap Done.

The payments will be recorded, and you can view them by tapping the History button on each individual debt.
